Important update on mandatory BIS Certification for Indian manufacturers and importers of

• 1.) Specification for non-metal helmet for firemen and civil defence personnel
• 2.) Specification for industrial safety helmets
• 3.) Non- metal helmet for Police Force

Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade ( Ministry of Commerce and Industry ) has prepared a Quality Control Orders in respect of the above said products in consultation with BIS in order to bring it under mandatory BIS certification keeping in view the human safety and for ensuring the optimum quality of product. The QCO for these 3 products is attached below:

QCO Notification for Specification for non-metal helmet for firemen and civil defence personnel (IS 2745: 1983), Specification for industrial safety helmets (IS 2925:1984) and Non- metal helmet for Police Force (IS 9562: 1980) is as follows:

The notification was released on 23rd October 2023 and it will be implemented from:

23rd April 2024 for Medium and Large enterprises (Annual turnover 50< crores).

23rd July 2024 for Small enterprises (Annual Turnover between 5 to 50 crores).

23rd October 2024 for Micro enterprises (Annual turnover of 5> crores).
