Important update on mandatory BIS Certification for manufacturers and importers of “Electrical Appliances for Skin and Hair care” for Indian marketplace.

Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade (Ministry of Commerce and Industry) has prepared a Quality Control Orders in respect of Safety of household and similar electrical appliances - particular requirements - appliances for skin or hair care in consultation with BIS in order to bring it under mandatory BIS certification keeping in view the human safety and for ensuring the optimum quality of product. The QCO for above said product is attached below:

The notification was released on 5th March 2024 and it will be implemented from:

5 March 2025 for Medium and Large enterprises (Annual turnover 50< crores).

5 June 2025 for Small enterprises (Annual Turnover between 5 to 50 crores).

5 September 2025 for Micro enterprises (Annual turnover of 5> crores).
