Important update on mandatory BIS Certification for Indian manufacturers and importers of

• 1.) Laboratory glassware - Graduated measuring cylinders
• 2.) Laboratory glassware - One - Mark volumetric flasks
• 3.) Laboratory glassware –Narrow-necked boiling flasks
• 4.) Laboratory glassware – Single volume pipettes
• 5.) Glass beakers

Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade ( Ministry of Commerce and Industry ) has prepared a Quality Control Orders in respect of the above said products in consultation with BIS in order to bring it under mandatory BIS certification keeping in view the human safety and for ensuring the optimum quality of product. The QCO for these 5 products is attached below:

QCO Notification for for Laboratory glassware - Graduated measuring cylinders (IS 878:2008), Laboratory glassware - One - Mark volumetric flasks (IS 915:2012), Laboratory glassware – Narrow-necked boiling flasks (IS 1381 (Part 1): 2003), Laboratory glassware – Single volume pipettes (IS 1117:2018) and Glass beakers (IS 2619:2018) is as follows:

The notification was released on 1 January 2024 and it will be implemented from:

1st July 2024 for Medium and Large enterprises (Annual turnover 50< crores).

1st October 2024 for Small enterprises (Annual Turnover between 5 to 50 crores).

1st January 2025 for Micro enterprises (Annual turnover of 5> crores).
