• 2.) Steel Wire Suspension Ropes for Lifts, Elevators and Hoists
• 3.) Stranded steel wire ropes for winding and man – Riding haulages in mines
• 4.) Steel Wire Ropes for Haulage Purposes
• 5.) Hot Dip Galvanized Stay Strand
• 6.) Wire Ropes Used in Oil Wells and Oil Well Drilling
• 7.) Braided Nylon Ropes for Mountaineering
• 8.) Galvanized Steel
• 9.) Mechanically Woven, Double Twisted, Hexagonal Wire Mesh Gabions, Revet Mattresses and Rock Fall Netting and Other products for Civil Engineering Purposes (Galvanized Steel Wire or Galvanized Steel Wire with polymer coating)

Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade ( Ministry of Commerce and Industry ) has prepared a Quality Control Order in respect of the above said products in consultation with BIS in order to bring it under mandatory BIS certification keeping in view the human safety and for ensuring the optimum quality of product. The QCO for these 9 products is attached below:

QCO Notification for Steel Wire Ropes for General Engineering Purposes (IS 2266: 2019), Steel Wire Suspension Ropes for Lifts, Elevators and Hoists (IS 2365:2018), Stranded steel wire ropes for winding and man – Riding haulages in mines (IS 1855: 2022), Steel Wire Ropes for Haulage Purposes (IS 1856: 2005), Hot Dip Galvanized Stay Strand (IS 2141: 2000), Wire Ropes Used in Oil Wells and Oil Well Drilling (IS 4521: 2001), Braided Nylon Ropes for Mountaineering, (IS 6590: 1972), Galvanized Steel (IS 278: 2009) and Mechanically Woven, Double Twisted, Hexagonal Wire Mesh Gabions, Revet Mattresses and Rock Fall Netting and Other products for Civil Engineering Purposes (Galvanized Steel Wire or Galvanized Steel Wire with polymer coating) (IS 16014: 2018) is as follows:

The notification was released on 3rd July 2024 and it will be implemented from:

1st December 2024 for Medium and Large enterprises (Annual turnover 50< crores).

1st March 2025 for Small enterprises (Annual Turnover between 5 to 50 crores).

1st June 2025 for Micro enterprises (Annual turnover of 5> crores).
