Important update on mandatory BIS Certification for Indian manufacturers and importers of

• 1.) V-Belts - Endless V-Belts for Industrial Purposes – General Purpose
• 2.) V-Belts - Endless V-Belts for Industrial Purposes – fire resistant and antistatic V-Belts
• 3.) Transmission Devices – V – Belts endless narrow V-Belts for industrial use

Department for Promotion of Industry & Internal Trade ( Ministry of Commerce and Industry ) has prepared a Quality Control Orders in respect of the above said products in consultation with BIS in order to bring it under mandatory BIS certification keeping in view the human safety and for ensuring the optimum quality of product. The QCO for these 3 products is attached below:

QCO Notification for V-Belts - Endless V-Belts for Industrial Purposes – General Purpose (IS 2494 (Part 1) :1994), V-Belts - Endless V-Belts for Industrial Purposes – fire resistant and antistatic V-Belts (IS 2494 (Part 2) :1993) and Transmission Devices – V – Belts endless narrow V-Belts for industrial use (IS 14261 :1995)

The notification was released on 6th March 2024 and it will be implemented from:

6th September 2024 for Medium and Large enterprises (Annual turnover 50 < crores).

6th December 2024 for Small enterprises (Annual Turnover between 5 to 50 crores).

6th March 2025 for Micro enterprises (Annual turnover of 5> crores).
